Mid-Atlantic hits 50
February thaw spreads

Saturday's highs
Afternoon highs will be in the 50s across the Mid-Atlantic

The frozen Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast will finally get a chance to thaw a bit more today as a spring preview unfolds.

Today's highs will touch the upper 50s as far north as Washington, D.C., with other locations like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia touching the 50 degree mark. Even New York City will see plenty of sunshine with highs in the middle 40s.

This is a big difference from the 20s and 30s many of the places have seen over the past several weeks, and these temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees milder than normal. These temperatures will help thaw the snowpack that has lingered since the major snowstorm that occurred in late January.

The East isn't the only place that will be thawing today. The TemperatureRadar shows a continued warm up across the central Plains. Minneapolis will be in the low 50s while Oklahoma City and Dallas reach the mid 60s.

However, the WeatherRadar shows thunderstorms and rain will interrupt the mild temperatures across the southern Plains.
