Monsoonal moisture continues to impact the Southwest into the weekend. Heavy rain and lightning startled residents of Flagstaff, Ariz., last night.

Scattered thunderstorms roared over parts of the Southwest yesterday, including Flagstaff, Ariz., where heavy rain poured over streets. Monsoon season is underway and our WeatherRadar shows more showers and storms into the weekend.

Today a few strong storms with gusty winds may develop over southern Arizona. Keep a close eye on the WeatherRadar if you live in Tucson. Localized flooding is also possible with heavier downpours in Arizona and New Mexico.

Monsoon season in the desert Southwest continues into September most years. With another couple of months of this moisture in the forecast, make sure you have your Weather & radar app alerts turned on.
