More record heat
Endless hot streak melts Texas

An unending heat wave continues across Texas even as cooler air settles across the South and Southeast.

It has been a hot weekend across the high Plains and much of Texas. Triple-digit highs topping out at the 100 to 105 range set numerous daily records. In Texarkana, Ark., it hit 107, tying a daily record set in 1936.

The hot weather continues across Texas and New Mexico for the rest of the work week, with afternoon highs hitting 105 to 110 degrees from the Rio Grande Valley northward into Panhandle.

Even Dallas will hit 106 today before cooling slightly the rest of the week with highs near 100 degrees.

To the east of the heat, a cold front has settled across the South. This is bringing much cooler temperatures compared to last week, with highs in the 80s across the central Mississippi Valley and the Mid-South. The Gulf Coast is still in the 90s, with high humidity making it feel even hotter.

The hot weather across Texas will remain through the work week, keeping the air conditioner cranking. Track the hot weather using the TemperatureRadar.
