Gravity waves form when air is pushed vertically and then oscillates as gravity pulls it back toward its original level. They can develop around fronts, thunderstorms and other disturbances, sometimes creating noticeable changes in clouds, wind and precipitation. This morning's gravity wave was formed by a cluster of thunderstorms in northern Kentucky.
