Stalled front
Multi-Day flood threat for Mid-Atlantic

Parts of the Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic will see strong storms and a potent flood threat today, with heavy downpours continuing tomorrow.

A cold front will spark strong to severe thunderstorms today across parts of the Mid-Atlantic and the Carolinas, with the threat of damaging wind gusts. Slow-moving storms could dump up to 8 inches of rain over the next 48 hours across portions of North Carolina and southeastern Virginia.

As the front stalls tomorrow, it will pull in deep Gulf moisture—boosted by Tropical Storm Bertha—leading to repeated rounds of heavy rain and an increasing flash flood threat through the week.

Track storms in real time with the WeatherRadar and stay ahead of changing conditions by making sure your app alerts are turned on.
