Multi-day severe weather
Texas’ severe storms, over 20M at risk

A multi-day severe weather event continues with day two of storms moving across Texas and Oklahoma this morning. More widespread severe storms are in the forecast for Monday afternoon and evening.

Severe storms got an early start on Monday morning. Tornado warnings have been in effect for areas to the northwest of Dallas. As the front continues to push eastward, expect the severe storm risk to move with it.

More than 20 million people are at risk of experiencing severe weather.

As more moisture arrives from northern Mexico from the remnants of what was once Hurricane Roslyn, which made landfall on the west coast of Mexico on Sunday, severe storms will ignite across San Antonio through the Houston area late Monday afternoon into the evening. This setup will form sort of a secondary front that will push strong to severe storms from central Texas to the coast. Storms will develop damaging winds; hail and a few tornadoes are possible.

Keep your mobile devices charged. Make sure you have at least 3 ways of receiving weather alerts.

Some storms could last into Tuesday morning and move across Arkansas and Louisiana. By Tuesday afternoon the threat of severe weather will be mainly focused across Mississippi and western Alabama, including cities in southwestern Tennessee like Memphis. About 8 million people are at risk of experiencing severe storms on Tuesday. Damaging winds will continue to be the main concern on Tuesday, but we cannot rule out a tornado or two.
