Preparations in a pinch
Handmade Christmas decorations

Got your tree up but still missing a few ornaments? No worries! Life can get busy quickly.

Instead of running to the shop and buying ready-made ornaments, you may be able to save yourself the trip and make your own homemade decorations with the family this year!

You could simply paint some leftover toilet paper rolls and turn them into Christmas characters. Use copper wire to give the reindeer antlers, or some felt to create Santa’s hat and beard.

You could even use nature for your ornaments. Grab some pine cones from the garden and decorate them with paint, ribbons, or glitter to put on the tree. Or you could find some small twigs and tie them together with some colored string or ribbon.

Do you have some oranges? If so, you can even make some scented ornaments for your tree. Simply cut some orange slices and bake them on low heat for around four hours. Please make sure you check on them regularly and turn them with a spatula. Once they are almost dry, you can make a little hole in the top and tie it to your tree.

We hope you find these ideas fun and if you are looking for more ornamental designs, look here for inspiration.
