The first autumn nor'easter is swirling off the Mid-Atlantic, whipping up high winds and dangerous surf along the Atlantic Seaboard.

The WindRadar shows the nor'easter off the Carolina Coast. It will slowly move to the northeast, staying offshore of the Mid-Atlantic on Saturday before approaching New York City on Sunday. Power outages are likely from parts of the Mid-Atlantic through coastal New England through the weekend.

Although it stays offshore, it will produce high winds and showers east of the I-95. Wind gusts in excess of 30 mph will be found from Cape Hatteras northward to beyond Cape Cod, including Washington, Philadelphia, New York City and Boston. The strong onshore winds will cause battering surf and coastal flooding, ruining weekend beach plans.

It might not take until Monday before the nor'easter fades away.
