What to watch for
Northern Plains may see strong storms

Severe storms are possible for portions of the northern Plains and the western Great Lakes today. These storms may produce large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes.

As upper-level energy crashes into warm and humid air across the northern Plains and western Great Lakes, strong storms are expected to fire up this afternoon and evening. You will want to keep an eye on the WeatherRadar today since some of these storms may produce large hail, damaging winds, and even a few tornadoes.

Wednesday's severe threat

An enhanced risk, a level three out of five of severe storms, encompasses parts of northeastern Minnesota and far northern Wisconsin and includes Duluth and Grand Rapids, Minn. A slight risk of severe weather, a level two out of five, extends as far south as northern Iowa and includes Minneapolis and Sioux City, Iowa.

Make sure to check the WeatherRadar for frequent updates and turn on your Weather & Radar app alerts. Severe weather often moves north in June as the jet stream pushes north. The severe weather threat pushes south and east on Thursday, with a slight risk extended across portions of the central Plains into the southern Great Lakes.
