October cooldown spreads
Autumn cold front arrives

Autumn is finally being felt across more of the U.S. as a cold front dives across the central U.S. It will sweep across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic this weekend.

The TemperatureRadar shows the temperature contrast generated by the cold front stretching from Texas to the Great Lakes. North of the front, autumn-like highs in the 60s and low 70s extend across the central and northern Plains. Sub-freezing temperatures will be possible tonight across the Upper Midwest and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Cooler temperatures spread out of the nothern Plains.

South of the front, summer-like 80s and 90s will occur and the front is also the focus point for heavy rain and even a few thunderstorms. The WeatherRadar can also be used to find the front's location and track its movement.

The cold front will move across the rest of the Midwest, Northeast, Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic Saturday. This causes temperatures in places like Washington, D.C., to go from highs in the middle to upper 80s today to low 70s Saturday and middle 60s Sunday.
