Our WeatherRadar’s lit up
Numerous strong/severe storms in Florida

We told you the rainy season was here for much of Florida! To the season´s regular instability, we are adding a low-pressure system moving very slowly over the Panhandle. Expect numerous rounds of rain showers and thunderstorms for the Sunshine (Sunshine-less, now) State.

Today’s storms are associated with low pressures over the state and two fronts, one draped over the Peninsula. There were plenty of storms lightning up our WeatherRadar on Monday. Tuesday afternoon, the sea breeze allowed storms to line up nearly along I-95 over Florida’s east coast. More storms, some stronger, are expected during the early afternoon closer to where the low pressure is in the Panhandle between Pensacola and Tallahassee.

Florida will remain under an active and soggy pattern as the low slowly moves east.

The storms lining up along Florida’s east coast could also become strong and perhaps one or two severe may develop, with damaging winds, small hail, and frequent lightning. Several lightning strikes have already been recorded, as it usually is with storms, along the Treasure and Space Coast. Some clusters of storms are moving slowly which may develop street flooding. Make sure to avoid any flooded areas you may encounter.

Please stay indoors if there are storms in your area. So far this year there have been two lightning deaths in Florida and 4 in total in the U.S. We forecast a similar day on Wednesday with numerous thunderstorms affecting the Peninsula with some of the storms becoming severe.
