Rare severe threat: Northern New England storms

Rare severe threat
Northern New England storms

A rare round of severe storms threatens northern New England later today and tonight, bringing the threat of damaging winds, large hail and even a tornado.

It is going to be a hot one across the East Coast. The TemperatureRadar shows afternoon highs reaching into the low to middle 90s deep into New England.

Hot Tuesday
It is going to be a hot Tuesday across the Northeast.

A weak front will move out of Canada and interact with this hot air, producing lines of thunderstorms, some of which will become severe with damaging winds and hail. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. They can be tracked using the WeatherRadar.

Severe thunderstorms producing damaging winds, hail and a tornado are more common across many parts of the U.S., than across northern New England. Tornadoes are rare, with the weakest EF0 one being reported every year or two and severe thunderstorm threats occur only a couple time of year, usually only in July and August.
