Saharan dust
Dirty rain for Florida

It's rainy season for Florida but the addition of Saharan dust may make for less-than-refreshing showers this weekend.

Saharan dust can help tamp down tropical activity in the Atlantic, but when it makes its way across the Atlantic and into the U.S., it can lead to dirty rain and respiratory issues for some. This weekend the Sunshine State will be dealing with an influx of Saharan dust.

The WeatherRadar shows numerous showers and storms in the forecast for Florida this weekend, but when raindrops combine with dust particles, they can leave a dirty film on any surfaces they hit. You may need to wash your car after this weekend!

When it's not raining, Saharan dust can lead to vibrant sunrises and sunsets and respiratory issues. If you are in a sensitive group, make sure to keep an eye on our air quality feature this weekend.
