Winter storm alerts
Don't forget to activate

Did you know Weather & Radar provides an alert service so you can stay aware of when heavy snow and freezing rain are headed your way?

Using local radar data, weather models, and a threat assessment tool, the service is designed to provide you with the most accurate and localized alerts.

Issued several hours before the start of the event, they can give you a head start on protecting yourself and your loved ones from incoming adverse or potentially dangerous winter storms.

instructions on how to activate winter weather alerts

Want to stay on top of the weather no matter what? Make sure to activate our Weather Alert push notifications.

To opt-in, go to Info&Settings under the main menu by tapping on the icon at the top left corner. Then, head down to the Weather Alert section, and toggle the slider to activate push notifications.

Are your alerts switched "on" in the app but you still aren't receiving the notifications? Never fear! There is an extra phone setting you may have to check. First, make sure your phone is up to date with the latest system.

Android users: On your device, go to "Settings" and find "Apps." Scroll until you find the Weather&Radar app and click on it. Open the "Notifications" and switch "Allow Weather&Radar notifications" or "Show notifications" to on. Some users may have the extra step of opening "Notification categories" and making sure they are all toggled on.

iOS users: On your device, go to "Settings" then click on "Notifications." Scroll to find the Weather&Radar app and click on it. The first option once you click is "Allow notifications." Toggle this to on and you should be all set.

Important: Winter storm alerts will be available for push notification starting January 2022. If you are concerned about severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. See our Storm Alerts.
