And into the weekend
Severe threat continues today

A multi-day severe weather threat continues today and into the weekend as powerful storms fire up across parts of the Plains, Midwest and into the Mississippi Valley.

A potent severe weather pattern continues today and into the weekend, with powerful storms expected to keep firing up. Today's threat centers on parts of eastern Oklahoma and extends into the Ark-La-Tex region.

All types of severe weather are possible, including large hail, damaging winds, and strong tornadoes. The most significant threat extends across Shreveport, La., into Tyler and Texarkana, Texas. Other cities at risk today include Little Rock, Ark., Jackson, Miss., and Dallas.

The weekend will bring potent severe risks to the southern and central Plains. The WeatherRadar shows strong to severe thunderstorms developing across parts of the southeastern Great Plains Saturday afternoon and evening, bringing a risk of large hail and damaging wind gusts to cities such as Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Okla., and Wichita, Kan. The tornado threat will be lower on Saturday.

A more potent tornado threat returns on Sunday. Severe storms capable of producing large hail and a few strong tornadoes may develop across parts of the central and southern Great Plains by early Sunday evening. As the storms evolve, one or two clusters could organize and move toward the middle to lower Missouri Valley, bringing a threat of damaging wind gusts.
