Powerful storms could bring damaging winds and large hail to parts of the Plains today into tonight. A few strong storms producing damaging winds may also impact the Mid-Atlantic.

The WeatherRadar shows strong storms forming today through tonight from the central High Plains into portions of the southern Plains. These storms may produce very large hail exceeding 2 inches in diameter, damaging wind gusts over 75 mph, and a few isolated tornadoes.

Today and tonight's risk area includes cities such as Cheyenne, Wyo., Denver, Amarillo, Texas, Wichita, Kan., and Oklahoma City. Make sure your Weather & Radar app alerts are on.

In addition, scattered thunderstorms across southeastern Virginia and eastern North Carolina could produce damaging winds in cities such as Raleigh and Wilmington, N.C., as well as Richmond, Va.
