Wind, isolated tornadoes
Severe weather threat marches east

Days of severe weather will culminate in the threat of severe storms stretching from the Mid-Atlantic to central Florida.

It's been an active week for severe weather as a powerful spring storm marched east, carrying strong storms along with it across the Plains into the Ohio Valley and South. On the cold side, this system has been producing heavy late-season snow for the upper Midwest.

WeatherRadar

The WeatherRadar shows showers and thunderstorms spreading eastward ahead of a cold front through the Southeast, Appalachians, and mid-Atlantic. This front will march east throughout the day and into the evening bringing more showers and storms to the region.

A slight risk, a level 2 out of 5, of severe storms stretches from central Florida up into the Mid-Atlantic. Some cities that may experience severe weather today include Washington, D.C., Richmond, Va., Raleigh, N.C., Charleston, S.C., Savannah, Ga., and Jacksonville and Tampa, Fla.

Today's threats include damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes. It's important to turn your Weather & Radar app alerts on and keep an eye on the WeatherRadar. A flood threat is also in place for parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. A slight risk, a level 2 out of 4, of excessive rain extends from Washington, D.C., into New York. Heavy downpours may lead to flash flooding today.
