Severe weather threat ramping up

Severe storms will be possible across the Plains and into parts of the Midwest this afternoon, evening and into tonight. Large hail, intense winds and tornadoes are all possible.

A severe weather outbreak will be possible across portions of the southern and central Plains and Midwest starting this afternoon and continuing into tonight. Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes (some strong) will be possible.

The WeatherRadar shows the first round of storms firing up across the central and southern Plains this afternoon and into the evening hours. The most significant severe weather risk extends from Omaha, Neb., south through Kansas City and into Tulsa, Okla., and Dallas.

Flash flooding is also a concern with these storms, with the greatest risk extending from east Texas to Mississippi today and into tomorrow. Overnight, damaging wind gusts, hail and tornadoes will be possible from Illinois southward through Oklahoma and northeastern Texas.

More severe weather and flash flooding will be possible from Saturday morning into the evening, stretching from the southern Plains to the Great Lakes. Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will be possible. East Texas will see the risk of large hail.
