Front causes trouble
Strong storms and flooding for the South

While a front has brought much nicer conditions to parts of the Midwest and Northeast, strong storms and flooding will be possible across the South.

A front that stretches from New England to the Mid-Atlantic and west across the central Gulf Coast into Texas will help spark off showers and storms throughout the day. The WeatherRadar shows a few showers and storms impacting morning commutes across central Texas this morning.

Things get more active this afternoon and evening along the front, with strong storms possible in the Carolinas and in southern Virginia. Cities such as Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C., and Virginia Beach, Va., may see gusty damaging winds with some of these storms.

Flash flooding is also a concern from Texas into the Carolinas, with 1 to 3 inches of rain expected. Locally, some spots in eastern North Carolina could see upwards of 5 inches. Localized flooding may also occur with any storms that fire up along the front. Traveling? Check out our RainRadar to see where the heaviest rain is occurring in your area.
