Thick fog, a sign of what's to come

Fog blanketed Maryland on Tuesday morning, but a drone video shows the beautiful sunrise above. Unfortunately for the East Coast, a powerful storm is bringing more gloomy weather.

Gloomy fog dominated the Mid-Atlantic this morning, but a drone showed the incredible sunrise above the low-lying clouds. This fog is a sign of what's to come. A powerful storm will bring inclement weather to the East Coast today and tomorrow. The WeatherRadar shows rain to the South and snow and ice to the North.

Today, multiple rounds of rain will drench the Southeast, bringing the threat of flash flooding to cities like Montgomery, Ala., Atlanta, Greenville, S.C., and Charlotte, N.C. A few strong storms may also produce damaging winds and isolated tornadoes in this region.

While the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast are experiencing gloomy conditions, stormier weather will build on Wednesday. Scattered showers and storms will push along the I-95 corridor, creating hazardous travel conditions. The potential for severe storms will stretch from Tampa to Boston on Wednesday, with the greatest risk from Wilmington, N.C., to Virginia Beach, Va.

Flash flooding is also a concern for the Northeast tomorrow, especially in New England. As cold air pushes in behind this storm, rain will switch to snow, making for even messier conditions. By the end of the week, bitterly cold air moves in. In Chicago, highs go from the 60s on Wednesday to the 30s on Friday. Keep an eye on the WeatherRadar and make sure your winter weather safety kit is ready to go.
