Incoming arctic blast
Time to watch the TemperatureRadar

Eyes should be on the TemperatureRadar these next several days as a late-week arctic blast heads our way.

If you are new to our app, one great feature to get to know this week is the TemperatureRadar, and you’ll have plenty to view. A mid-season winter storm is forecast to affect the Rockies and migrate eastward over the U.S., with the chance for snow across many areas.

The TemperatureRadar is showing that big coats are needed. On the storm’s back end, a cold air mass will spread, bringing temperatures 20 to 40 degrees colder than average across the eastern two-thirds as far south as the Gulf Coast.

The cold air invasion gets moving during the weekend, first affecting the High Plains with lows that could be as low as -25 F in parts of Wyoming on Monday and highs that will be near 0 F. These frigid temperatures will dominate the Great Lakes and on Tuesday the lows will be at least -6 in the Chicago area. Highs on Tuesday struggle to get out of the single-digits.
