It will be the third day with severe storms developing across the Florida Peninsula. On Wednesday, storms could turn severe, starting in the afternoon, and develop very large hail, damaging winds. We cannot rule out a tornado or two. Here's the forecast.

Texas: Enhanced risk for severe stormsread more

Once again, the sea breeze will develop early this afternoon and get storms started along Florida’s east coast. As the afternoon progresses, the WeatherRadar will light up as more storms develop inland.

Severe storms will likely bring very large hail and damaging winds across the Florida Peninsula.

The storms’ general movement will be from north to south once they are developed inland. A large area just south of Jacksonville through Miami, including Orlando and all the areas just east of Tampa, has the chance of severe storms. The Storm Prediction Center has given it an enhanced risk, level 3 out of 5 on the severity scale, due to the main risk of having very large hail of at least 2 inches in diameter and damaging wind gusts of at least 65 mph.

Although the sea breeze will form storms earlier in the day, they will be focused closer to the coast in the early afternoon for Central and South Florida, but in the latter part of the afternoon into the evening, strong to severe storms will develop and affect inland locations. This is when the highest chance for frequent lightning and very large hail will happen.

If you live in the area at risk, today is a good day to park your car under a roof or in a garage as hail could damage vehicles. If this is not possible, consider securing safety floaties, pool tubes, etc., to your car. This will help protect your vehicle from dents and from having the glass broken.

Make sure to have at least 3 ways of receiving weather alerts. If you are placed in a severe thunderstorm warning, stay indoors and away from doors and windows. Make sure to check the radar often as storms could develop fast. Stay away from flooded roads. Some areas have received plenty of rain in the last few days and flooding could develop fast over these areas.
