Today and tomorrow
Record heat for the East

High pressure in the Mid-Atlantic is funneling hot air along the East Coast.
High pressure in the Mid-Atlantic is funneling warm air along the East Coast.

A heatwave will challenge record highs across the Eastern U.S. today and tomorrow.

The TemperatureRadar shows an early-season heat wave intensifying across the East today. A strong Bermuda High positioned over the western Atlantic will continue to funnel warm, southerly air into much of the eastern half of the country, driving high temperatures into the mid-90s over the next several days.

These readings are expected to challenge or break daily temperature records across the eastern and central U.S., the Mid-Atlantic, and into the Northeast. Record highs are possible today in cities like Raleigh, N.C., Huntington, W.V., Washington, D.C., Albany, N.Y., Philadelphia and Boston.

The heat sticks around tomorrow, with more record highs possible in cities like Richmond, Va., Philadelphia, Boston and Portland, Maine.
