It's the season! Widlfire threat this week

Wildfire season is ramping up across many parts of the U.S. as we approach the end of the dry season, but it doesn't have to be the dry season to have wildfires; there need to be the right conditions.

This week starts with an elevated risk for wildfires across the Central Plains, specifically over Kansas and southern South Dakota. On Tuesday, the winds will be the strongest over eastern Arizona and western New Mexico. Strong winds and warm temperatures will move over the Texas Panhandle and eastern New Mexico on Wednesday.

Areas at risk of fires during the start of the week.

Several tools are needed to monitor the fire threat. One of the most important ones is the WindRadar. Strong winds can quickly propagate fires. If there is low humidity and the winds pick up, make sure to avoid anything that could cause sparks or fires. Read more about weather conditions that could start and spread fires here.
