Tropical update
Chances grow for wave to develop

tropical update

A tropical wave is making… waves! The disturbance is located a few hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

The wave has no chance to develop within the next two days, but starting Sunday, the chances of this system being named grow quickly. Weather conditions will turn more favorable for this system to be better organized by late this weekend or early next week as it travels a few hundred miles northeast of the Caribbean.

Looking at long-range models, which can often change, especially in location and strength due to the lack of initial data provided, since it is still a tropical wave without a well-defined center of circulation, this system’s path will greatly depend on the semi-permanent high-pressure system known as the Bermuda High.

This high-pressure system seems to retract eastward starting this weekend, this means that it will allow the disturbance to travel over its southern and western periphery and likely stay over water without affecting the Americas through the first half of next week.

Take this with a grain of salt, as there are still many components that could and will likely change in the tropics. It is best to wait until this system becomes better organized and has a nice spin to it to have more clarity.

For now, it is safe to say that we can enjoy this weekend without any tropical worries, and we will be right here monitoring this system for you and bring you another update Friday morning.
