Tropical update
Cindy's gone, could come back stronger

The tropics apparently got the memo that two storms so far east were rare to happen in June. So, there are currently no named systems in the Atlantic Basin, but we are watching the areas that used to be Cindy, as it could regenerate and go back to tropical storm status later this week.

As forecast, Cindy passed well northeast of the Caribbean. On Sunday, the system looked very battered, and by the evening it became an open tropical wave losing its tropical storm status.

Cindy became an open wave, losing its tropical storm status as it moves to the northwest.

Cindy’s remnants are traveling through an area of strong wind shear during the next two days. We do not forecast for Cindy to “revive” at least until late Wednesday or Thursday morning.

Currently, the rest of Cindy is traveling to the northwest, but it is expected for them to make a turn more north-northwest and stay east of Bermuda. But this system could impact land, Canadian land to be exact, and slam against Nova Scotia by late this week, possibly like a tropical storm or hurricane.

There are no other areas we are monitoring this week across the Atlantic Basin.
