Disturbance on the move, Danielle? When?

We are tracking a tropical wave, currently located near the coast of Honduras. It has a low chance of becoming a tropical system in the next 5 days, once it enters the Gulf of Mexico.

Currently, the tropical wave is being hindered by land interaction as it is traveling over Central America, as it makes it way to the north-northwest. It still has to cross some mountainous regions in Southern Mexico.

August 17. Tropical disturbance traveling over Central America has a low chance of becoming stronger once it emerges over the Bay of Campeche.

It is forecast to enter the Bay of Campeche on Friday, where it could become better organized as it tracks northwest. The weekend will be crucial for this system to develop.

Southern Texas coast and eastern Mexico need to monitor closely this system.

There is plenty of warm waters and wind shear is forecast to be low enough to allow this system to develop. The only factor it has against will be its proximity to land. Nonetheless, this system can’t be discarded as it can bring torrential rains and some strong winds even if it doesn’t acquire a name officially.
