Tropical update
Disturbance parked near Texas/Louisiana, more far

The tropics are showing signs of awakening, but its start it’s like one would be on a Monday morning… in slow motion.

First, the disturbance located near the Texas upper coast will meander there through at least Tuesday. There is minimal wind shear in the region and plenty of warm waters, giving it a low chance of developing. Regardless, due to t its proximity to land, you can bet on the heavy rains to continue to splatter from Galveston through New Orleans. Flash floods are possible through the middle of the week as there could be up to 5 inches in some areas.

Nothing should worry the United States this week brewing in the tropics. A tropical wave will enter the Caribbean, and it could be located near Jamaica by the end of the week, it is when this system could be better defined, possibly becoming named. Its slow movement allows us to continue to monitor and have nothing to worry about.

Farther east, another tropical wave exits Africa, where there is plenty of moisture leaving the continent that could potentially translate to more tropical waves emerging in the coming weeks. As we have discussed, a tropical wave emerging from Africa can take over 12 days to arrive to North America, that’s plenty of time to monitor and many factors at play. Our WeatherRadar offers a global view of the storms, even those pesky waves exiting Africa.
