Tropical update: Eyes in the Caribbean

Tropical update
Eyes in the Caribbean

Tropical formation chance in the next 5 days. The disturbance in orange has decreasing chance to develop as it moves over cooler waters.

Remember that storm we mentioned on Monday that had a high chance to develop? Weather conditions have become less favorable for it to develop. But wait, there is more out there!

The system located near Bermuda has now a medium chance of developing. Showers and thunderstorms have decreased, and the disturbance has started to move over cooler waters.

There are two other areas that we are monitoring where tropical storm formation is possible within the next five days.

The first area is located just east of the Bahamas. There will be a disturbance forming and once it arrives in the areas east of the Bahamas, between Puerto Rico and Bermuda there could be favorable conditions to develop into a subtropical or tropical system by the weekend.

Another region where there could be favorable conditions for a tropical system to develop this weekend is over the eastern Caribbean. The chance to have a named system is low, but it could increase as the week progresses.

The key point is that we have plenty of time to watch these systems. We are not too worried about the first one mentioned because it will stay over water and it doesn’t seem that it will form. The other two areas, although low at this point, look more promising to develop and worth watching as they could be approaching land. Especially the one that will enter the Caribbean. We have time to monitor and we will continue to bring you prompt updates about the tropics.
