Tropical update
Not much out there, is this it?

To tropical activity expected this week.

As we are about to (on paper) finish the 2022 hurricane season, we are still on track to end it with no more occurrences in the tropics.

Of course, we know that Mother Nature doesn’t know about calendars, but there are several factors present that tell us that there is not much of a chance for hurricane formation across the Atlantic Basin. Our WeatherRadar shows an exiting cold front and not much else across the tropics.

Sea surface temperatures have cooled off quite a bit across coastal waters around the U.S. We can give thanks to those fronts that have allowed cooler conditions to take over. Fronts are dipping into southern latitudes more frequently and stronger which helps stir up the atmosphere and swing any possibility of formation out over to the open Atlantic.

Wind shear has increased a bit across the Caribbean and there is also a swath of very dry air taking over, this also hinders tropical formation.

This is great news. Later this week, we will bring you a summary of the 2022 Hurricane Season and discuss what could have kept this season near average rather than more active than average.
