Tropical update: TD 12 & a storm to Central America?

Across the tropics this Wednesday there hasn't been much change from Tuesday. Except a tropical wave has been labeled Tropical Depression number 12.

The tropical wave labeled Tropical Depression #12 is located a few hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands. Fortunately, the tropical depression will continue to travel over the open waters of the Atlantic without affecting land. Very dry air is not allowing this system to develop further, and it's expected to dissipate by Thursday afternoon.

Invest 91L

A tropical wave located over the southern Caribbean will continue to bring strong winds, dangerous seas, and heavy rounds of rains across northern Venezuela, the ABC islands, and northern Colombia this week. Invest 91L will continue to travel westward as it tries to become better organized. There is a high chance that this system will receive a name by the end of this week or over the weekend as it travels over areas more favorable for its development. Hurricane Hunters are investigating the system Wednesday morning and afternoon.

Where would it land?

Although usually, we would not be able to say where a tropical wave could end up, this time the weather setup is different. There is a strong high-pressure system located over the southern US, including the Gulf of Mexico. This acts like a shield and will not allow Invest 91L to make a northward turn. Residents in Central America from Costa Rica to Nicaragua/Honduras should monitor this system closely. As far as intensity, most models show a hurricane near the east Central America coast by Sunday or Monday.
