Tropical update
Tropical wave parade activates

As we continue to watch the tropics expect activity to increase during the next few weeks as we navigate through the peak of the season. Several tropical waves emerge from Africa this week.

At the start of the week, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean are fairly quiet. We shift our eyes more eastward, closer to Africa, as the waves will continue to exit the continent. There is a tropical wave that is a few hundred miles west of Cabo Verde Islands and will continue to be very disorganized through the beginning of the week. This tropical wave will continue to move west-northwest between 10 to 15 mph and it as a low chance for development during the next five days.

Long term models

Ingredients are still present across the Caribbean in the Gulf of Mexico to sustain any tropical activity that may come that way. At least for this week, conditions seem to stay calm closer to come, so our attention will shift to those African waves, which will give us all plenty of time to monitor.

This is the time to be prepared and have a plan in place with family and friends in case any storm threatens your area.
