Tropical update
Watching the western Caribbean this week

rain

After South Texas received plenty of beneficial rain after a disturbance entered the region from the Gulf of Mexico, the tropics have gone quiet once again... to start the week. Will it end this way?

Rain from Invest 98L, the disturbance we were closely monitoring, made conditions from Corpus Christi to the Rio Grande Valley a bit active late Saturday and Sunday. Like much of Texas, this area is under an exceptional drought and rivers are counting their last drops.

Although this rain will not bring an end to the drought, we expect a dent by the time the next drought report is released on Thursday.

The tropical Atlantic seems to stay mostly quiet this week. Over the Caribbean, a tropical wave will continue to move westward. Once over the western Caribbean, it could become better organized late this week as conditions seem to become more favorable for its development. This system is expected to travel north-northwest and could be interacting with the Yucatan Peninsula, which may hinder its formation.

Regardless this tropical wave is not yet too robust, so we will closely watch its evolution and bring you the latest on our Weather&Radar App.
