Turn hot by Friday: Summer returns to the East

Turn hot by Friday
Summer returns to East

Getting hot across the Friday
Afternoon highs for today versus Friday

The pleasant and mild start to June across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and into the Southeast will come to an end heading into this weekend. In fact, a few daily record highs could be broken.

It has been a pleasant couple of days across the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast with the TemperatureRadar showing afternoon highs in the 70s and overnight lows in the 50s and 60s. Perfect weather to have the windows open and let the fresh air inside.

The break for the air conditioner will end later this week. The high pressure that produced the northerly breezes that brought the cool and dry air southward will move off the Southeast Coast. This will allow a return of southwest flow up the East Coast.

This is the typical summer setup to produce building heat and, even worse, higher humidity levels. The air conditioner will definitely need to be turned back on as highs jump into the 90s by Friday across the Mid-Atlantic, while New England will be in the upper 80s. A few daily records could be broken.

This hot weather will continue into the weekend. A trip to the mountains or the beach might be a good plan to stay cool.
