Upper Midwest
Thick fog blankets the Great Lakes

Houghton, Michigan's foggy Wednesday morning off the coast of Lake Superior.

A warm, moist air mass across the Upper Midwest and Upper Great Lakes has prepared the perfect setup for thick morning fog.

Check out the WeatherRadar. The thick fog covering Lakes Superior, Michigan and Huron can be seen blanketing the sky. Some of the fog is impacting those on land in Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota near the shores.

The large storm system shifting east throughout the day will help the fog dissipate. However, the fog is displaced by severe weather. Tornadoes, hail and damaging winds are all possible, especially across the Upper Midwest for big metro spots like Green Bay and Milwaukee, Wis., Chicago, and Minneapolis.
