This weekend, a powerful storm system roared across the eastern half of the U.S. Devastating flash flooding impacted parts of west Tennessee, southern Kentucky, West Virginia and western Virginia. In Hopkinsville, Ky., 1 to 2 inches of snow fell after devasting flooding impacted the city.

River flooding is also ongoing across portions of the South after 5 to inches fell over 48 hours. Numerous roads remain closed across the region, and sadly, one person was killed by flood waters in Manchester, Ky.

A levee failure on the Obion River near Rives, Tenn., led to extensive flooding. Residents in low-lying communities were encouraged to seek higher ground as waters rose.
