Waterspout forms in frigid conditions

Despite frigid temperatures, a waterspout formed on a Texas reservoir on Wednesday. This video was caught by a driver on a nearby parkway.

Did you know that waterspouts can form even when temperatures are below freezing on the TemperatureRadar? That was the case in Texas on Wednesday.

A driver on a nearby parkway caught a waterspout twisting over Cedar Creek Reservoir in Texas, southeast of Dallas. Temperatures did not rise above the 20s on Wednesday in central Texas.

The TemperatureRadar in central Texas on Wednesday

Waterspouts can form when very cold air moves over warmer waters. The cold air over warmer water created a temperature difference that allowed for the warmer air near the water to be pulled up and to start spinning.
