Windy mess
From California through the Ozarks

With the series of storms that will be intensifying near the Four Corner and Rocky Mountain region, the winds are set to sharply increase. Dangerous windy conditions will set up camp from California through the Ozarks.

The first storm will be tightening the pressure gradient, which means that the winds will be ramping up across New Mexico on Monday. The winds will be strong from the southwest as the low pressure will be sitting between New Mexico and Arizona. Gusty winds will reach as high as 60 mph and 70 mph over the mountains. This will be dangerous for high-profile vehicles that are traveling, and proper precautions should be taken.

The strong gusty winds will continue over this region at least through Wednesday but shift from the north-northwest by the evening. Our WindRadar shows that the winds will be gradually diminishing by the end of the week.

Gusty winds could cause widespread power outages across California and Nevada.

Windy West Coast, too!

Much of California and Nevada will be a big windy mess on Tuesday. The second low-pressure system moves in and will settle just west of Las Vegas on Tuesday morning. This will increase the northerly gusty winds for the northern two-thirds of California and from the west-southwest for Southern California.

For much of Nevada, the winds will be strong and cold from the northeast, while Las Vegas will start Tuesday with southwesterly winds then shifting to northwest winds, and gusts up to 40 mph. There is a small chance for a few flakes to fall over Sin City on Tuesday night.

Aside from the winds being dangerous for tall vehicles, the gusts could also down some powerlines causing widespread power outages.
