Big snow, rain totals
Winter storm leaves impressive mark

Now that the winter storm has moved east, let’s see how much rain and snow it left across the West.

The massive winter storm left impressive totals, in both forms, rain, and snow. Starting with the rain, Sacramento this month has received 4.71, which is 135 percent of its average for December. Over the weekend there were 1.71 inches recorded! Auburn, located to the northeast of the capital, there were 2.63 inches recorded. Paradise, the city, which was badly affected by wildfires in recent years, received 3.57 inches since Friday morning.

As far as the snow, the highest peaks won the biggest powder price. Boreal got 54 inches of snow, that’s 4.5 feet of snow! Sugar Bowl and Sierra at Tahoe have received 53 inches of snow since Friday morning. Palisades was not too far behind with 52 inches.

Some ski resorts, like Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe, recorded a very impressive amount, 100 inches of snow since Friday morning. That is 8.3 feet of snow! Over a foot taller than Shaq O’Neal!

Check out how the wind blew snow strongly across the peak as the snow lifts were on hold to keep skiers and staff safe.
