Heavy snow, rain and ice
Winter wallop for the Mid-Atlantic

A snowy start for Kentucky this morning, and this powerful winter storm will significantly impact the Mid-Atlantic today. Another storm will follow, making for a very active work week.

The WeatherRadar shows multiple winter storms in the forecast, with a powerful storm bringing a winter whallop to the Mid-Atlantic today. Heavy snow is on the way for cities like Baltimore and Washington, D.C., with dangerous ice in western Virginia and southeast West Virginia.

Snow totals over the next 24 hours.

The WeatherRadar shows snow already underway across parts of the Ohio Valley, including across Kentucky. By the second half of the day, heavy snow will be moving into the Mid-Atlantic. Snow totals will range from 1 to 8 inches. Cities like Annapolis, Md., and Washington, D.C., will pick up 4 to 6 inches of snow. Baltimore and Philadelphia will pick up 3 to 4 inches of snow.

Dangerous ice is also forecast for portions of Virginia and West Virginia tonight. Up to one-quarter of an inch of ice in cities like Roanoke and Richmond, Va., could turn roads into ice rinks and lead to power outages.

The WeatherRadar shows another winter storm right on the heels of this one. This next winter storm will send wintry weather across the Plains into the Midwest, Great Lakes, and parts of the Northeast.
