Breakfast Brief
Wet, snowy weather to begin the week

The storm system that brought severe weather to the central U.S. and South during the holiday weekend is shifting east where more rain and storms are expected. Rain and snow will sweep across the Pacific Northwest through the northern tier and high temperatures will feel like summer in the Southeast. The Breakfast Brief is published Monday through Friday at 5:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

Morning rain and storms trailing along a cold front from the Gulf Coast to the Upper Great Lakes will slowly move east today. The WeatherRadar shows even some snow falling in northern Wisconsin and northern Michigan this afternoon as the system taps into colder temperatures in the north.

By this evening, showers and storms will be interrupting the evening commute and any dinner plans from the Deep South to the Northeast. Keep a close eye on the WeatherRadar before you head out and have your umbrellas handy!

More active weather will impact the Pacific Northwest through the northern High Plains and into the northern tier today, with snow involved for higher elevations. The Dakotas could have some late-evening thunderstorms as well. Make sure you have your app alerts switched on.

Across the Southeast, highs will reach into the summery 80s and even 90s for the Sunshine State. The TemperatureRadar shows the warmest temperatures from Tampa and Orlando, Fla., to Augusta, Ga., and Columbia, S.C. What a great day to test out the A.C. for those who haven't turned it on yet this season.
