Are you ready?
Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season begins

Spring has rapidly spread across the U.S., and summer is on the doorstep, which means tropical storms and hurricanes aren't too far away. For the eastern Pacific, hurricane season officially starts today.

During the Eastern Pacific hurricane season, development off Mexico's and Central America's Pacific Coast can happen anytime from now through November 30th. Currently, no systems are on the horizon.

The Atlantic hurricane season begins on June 1 and runs through November 30th. The Atlantic hurricane basin includes the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

Residents living along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts should spend the quieter time during the early part of hurricane season to prepare for a likely busy season ahead. Preparations include refreshing supplies in emergency kits, checking homes for any needed repairs to roofs and windows and reviewing evacuation plans.
