Summer arrives early
Texas-size heat wave

Summer is arriving early across the Lone Star State this week, with record temperatures possibly being shattered.

Strong southwesterly flow and bountiful sunshine are combining to send the temperatures skyward. The TemperatureRadar shows highs today will reach the 90s in many places across the state. This will be repeated Tuesday and Wednesday, with daytime highs becoming progressively hotter. Many places in central and southern Texas will exceed 100 degrees.

Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Waco and Corpus Christi, Texas, could all set new daily maximum temperature records on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This heat wave is early, so be sure to be well prepared. Drink plenty of non-alcoholic and decaffinated beverages and wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothes. Remember to check the UV Index and apply sunscreen often as the May sun brings increasing chance for sunburn.
