Severe threat lingers into weekend

Severe storms impacted parts of the Plains yesterday, and a tornado was spotted in far eastern New Mexico. A slow-moving front will spark off strong storms in many of the same areas, from the Plains to the East Coast, into the weekend.

The WeatherRadar paints an active picture across much of the country into the weekend. Today, a meandering front will produce a storm threat that stretches from the central and southern Plains into the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys.

Severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening from the Colorado foothills to the southern Appalachians, with cities like Denver, Lubbock, Texas, Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Ark., and Nashville, Tenn., at risk. While all types of severe weather are possible, very large hail and a few tornadoes are possible from eastern Colorado into western Texas.

The WeatherRadar shows a storm threat stretching from the Colorado foothills to the southern Appalachians.

The threat of severe storms moves slightly east and south on Saturday. Cities like Dallas, Springfield, Mo., Little Rock, Ark., Memphis, Tenn., Birmingham, Ala., and Atlanta could see damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes.

The threat of severe weather continues from the southern Plains into the Southeast again on Sunday. Keep an eye on the WeatherRadar and make sure your app alerts are turned on.
