Multi-day severe threat underway

Severe weather season is ramping up right on time this year. Severe weather and flash flooding will be possible through the end of the week and into the weekend.

The WeatherRadar shows storms developing over a large region this afternoon and evening across the southern and central Plains. Damaging wind gusts, large hail and a few tornadoes are all possible.

Cities such as Abilene, Texas, Oklahoma City, Wichita, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo., should be on alert for powerful storms, especially after sunset.

Severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening across the southern and central Plains, parts of the Ohio Valley, central Appalachians, and Mid-Atlantic.

Strong-to-severe storms may also develop in parts of the Ohio Valley, central Appalachians, and Mid-Atlantic. Damaging winds will be the main threat in these regions; however, isolated tornadoes are possible. The threat includes cities such as Louisville, Ky., and Washington, D.C.
