Texas scorcher: 100-plus feel like temperatures

100+ feels-like temps
Texas scorcher

Hot Texas day
A hot day ahead across southern Texas

Dangerous hot temperatures will bake Texas today with triple-digit feels-like temperatures throughout the Lone Star State.

Today's hot weather is the result of the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur moving into the Lower Mississippi Valley and the Southeast. As seen on the WindRadar, this is producing a strong southerly flow off of the western Gulf, while the WeatherRadar shows bountiful sunshine this afternoon.

This will send temperatures into the upper 90s as far north as Dallas with triple-digit temperatures across southern Texas and the Rio Grande Valley. Increasing humidity streaming northward will make it feel even hotter, with the feels-like temperatures in the 105-110 range today.

Feels-like temperatures this high are dangerous for anyone spending time outside. It is important to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest time of the day and check on elderly neighbors and family members to make sure they are staying cool.

This heat burst will be short-lived for central and northern Texas as a weak front brings increasing rain chances on Friday. Southern Texas will be slightly cooler, but highs will still be in the 90s.

Meanwhile, out West, Lake Tahoe is having much more comfortable temperatures!
