First of 2025
Hurricane Erin: weekend trajectory

Hurricane Erin is a Category 1 hurricane churning east of the northern Leeward Islands and is expected to continue on a west-northwest to northwest track this weekend.

Erin, the first hurricane of the 2025 season, will move into much more favorable waters throughout the weekend and could become a major hurricane (Category 3+) by Saturday afternoon or evening. The WindRadar shows Erin gaining strength throughout the day on Friday, with gusts reaching the 'pink zone' of at least 75 mph.

Hurricane Erin's center is expected to stay over water as it passes the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Haiti and the Bahamas, this weekend and early next week, but interests here could experience tropical-storm-force conditions.

Thanks to high pressure building in the upper levels of the U.S. and just behind Erin, its trajectory is expected to stay away from the East Coast, but vacationers should remain aware. Large waves and rip currents are expected, and beachgoers should pay close attention to the flags.
