Lingers into Tuesday
Upper Midwest severe threat

The last week of March has begun, and the severe season continues to unfurl. A fresh round of severe storms will streak across the Upper Midwest and the Great Lakes tonight and into early Tuesday.

A slithering front stretches from the central Plains into the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and into the Northeast. Meanwhile, as seen on the TemperatureRadar, unseasonably hot air is producing near-record temperatures across the southern and central Plains.

Midwest storm threat

These two will interact with each other and produce pockets of thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening. The WeatherRadar shows several batches of thunderstorms developing later this evening and overnight from central Iowa northeastward into the western Great Lakes. Large hail and damaging winds are possible.

These storms will occur after dark, so be sure to have alerts turned on and be prepared to act.

The severe storm shifts into more of the Midwest and the Great Lakes Tuesday. Detroit, Cleveland and Buffalo could see thunderstorm threats as the frontal system slowly drifts south.
