During the new month, there will be a total lunar eclipse, coinciding with the full moon, visible comets, and the equinox.

March is a month of change: one of these changes is the equinox, which marks the end of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of spring. This year, it will occur on March 20 at 10:46 a.m. Eastern Time, with day and night being almost equal in length.

The most significant event will take place on March 3, when there will be a total lunar eclipse. Not everyone will be able to enjoy it: it will only be visible in Asia, Australia, the Pacific Ocean, and America. If you are lucky enough to see it, you will be able to see the red moon and you will not need any special equipment to enjoy it.

Watch out for the clouds!

If the sky is cloudy during the eclipse, it will not be possible to observe it. Check the WeatherRadar to find out the forecast cloud cover.

The full moon will occur on that very same day, making it even more spectacular.

Comet 88P/Howell will reach its perihelion, the point closest to the Sun, around March 18. It will be visible with a telescope from the southern hemisphere.

Change the time!

Although not an astronomical event, this month we also change the time. We will move the clocks forward one hour on March 8. This is Daylight Saving Time in the United States. Most of Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa do not observe this change.
