New Mexico
Double September's rain in 72 hours

Monsoon rains pushing into New Mexico will last through the latter half of the workweek, possibly dropping double to quadruple the amount of September's average rainfall. Flooding is expected, with southern New Mexico in the thick of it.

Extreme weather alerts are active in the Weather & Radar USA app for places like Alamogordo and Las Cruces, N.M., indicating the expected heavy rainfall in a short amount of time. On average in September, less than two inches usually fall in south-central New Mexico, but 2 to 4 inches are possible during this bout of heavy rain.
